MBA Admissions Telethon Offers Advice for 2008 MBA Applicants

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 5, 2007 -- With the business school application season just around the corner, MBA hopefuls around the globe are deciding where to apply and how to market themselves to the top programs.

The Accepted MBA Admissions Telethon can help ease the pressure of these life-changing decisions. During four hours on Wednesday, June 11, six admissions consultants with over 50 years of combined experience will be standing by to offer advice to MBA hopefuls. Candidates can call to speak with one of these admissions experts at no charge.

Accepted launched this innovative concept in February 2007 to encourage candidates to begin thinking about the MBA application process. Accepted founder Linda Abraham emphasized the importance of advance preparation. "For the last thirteen years I've seen consistently that those who start early and set aside the time to prepare the best applications, end up submitting -- surprise! -- the best applications."

This first telethon was so successful that it was quickly followed by a second, staffed by even more editors, in May 2007. Callers learned the smart choices that ensure their MBA application journey is smooth, successful, and less nerve-wracking.

Callers in the May telethon, says Accepted.com Senior Editor Cydney Foote, sought advice on where to apply, strategies for addressing essays, and even which recommenders to choose. Says Foote, "Winning a spot at a top school can open a lot of doors, but applicants often aren't aware of what they can do to make themselves more competitive." Consultants who have experience working with hundreds of MBA applicants can provide that awareness.

"One of my callers, an IT specialist from India, was afraid he would blur into the over-represented crowd of Indian techies," says Foote. "But as he told me about his work in a unique industry sector that had taken him first to South America and then the U.S., I realized that he had dismissed some very attractive facets of his profile. We work with so many different clients that we know details like a unique industry segment and specific international exposure can really stand out. Even in a short conversation, we can help applicants understand how their profile stacks up."

This final MBA Admissions Telethon offers 2008 candidates one last chance to see how their profiles stack up. To accommodate callers from different time zones, two two-hour sessions are scheduled.
